There are fewer active wildfires in BC today than there were yesterday, breaking an upward trend which had lasted for weeks.
Of the nearly 450 active blazes, close to 250 are listed as out-of-control with crews in the Northwest continuing to deal with over 80 fires.
Evacuation orders and alerts remain in effect south and east of Houston, north of Francois Lake, south of Babine Lake, and between Burns Lake and Tintagel.
An order is also in place around Andrew’s Creek west of Ootsa Lake, and an order around Great Beaver Lake north of Vanderhoof, has been reduced to an alert.
Alerts are also in place south of Noonlang Lake and west of the Omineca Provincial Park, with an alert north of Stuart Lake now rescinded.
A number of alerts and orders remain in place covering most of the Southeast Nechako area, and some of the Northern Cariboo.
You can find maps and information on all evacuation orders and alerts at this link.
While fire danger ratings have dropped to moderate or low across the Northwest, open burning and campfires remain prohibited province-wide.
